Measuring

  Inside Mount

An inside mount is an application where the blinds/shades are mounted within the framework of the window.

  • Use steel tape (cloth tapes will not be accurate).
  • Round down to the nearest eighth of an inch. For example: 1-3/16” = 1-1/8” and 1-5/16” = 1-1/4”. Do not make any deduction. The factory will make deduction (industrial standards) to insure proper fit.
  • Width: Measure the width of the window opening at three different places and use the narrowest dimension for ordering.
  • Length: Measure the height of the window from top of opening to top of sill.

Note: for Verticals, the height should be measured at four different places: two at each side of the window opening and two at the diagonals of the window. If the difference between the measurements of the two sides and diagonals are 3/8” or larger, Verticals are not recommended.

  • Minimum recess space are required for:
  • 2” Horizontal Blinds = 2 ½”
  • 1” Horizontal Blinds = 1 ½”
  • Shades = 1 ½”
  • Sheers and Verticals = 3 ½”
  • Shutters = 1 ½”

  Outside or Ceiling Mount

An outside mount application is where the blinds/shades are mounted on or above the window casting. Outside blinds/shades will be made to the dimensions recorded on the order.

  • Measure the exact width and height of the area to be covered. It is recommended that blinds overlap the window opening by at least 1 ½” on each side and add at least 4” or the height of the product’s headrail to the height. Projection brackets are required for mounting brackets beyond the casting.

Note: You are responsible for your own measurements

On your notes, clearly indicate the width and the height – the width is always indicated first and the height is last (W x H). It is very common to transpose measurements.
